We Honor Veterans

HoriSun Hospice Honors Veterans

HoriSun Hospice is proud to be a Level 4 Partner with We Honor Veterans, a national organization that empowers hospices and other healthcare providers across America to meet the unique needs of Veterans and their families. We strive to acknowledge Veterans by recognizing their service through the following:

Pinning Ceremony

A pinning ceremony acknowledges the military service and sacrifices made by each Veteran and his or her family. The ceremony provides an opportunity for each Veteran to share his or her story and it may be coordinated at any time. A pinning ceremony can be as big or small as the Veteran and his or her family wish. Family members and facility staff are often invited to attend.

Veteran to Veteran Volunteer Program

HoriSun Hospice aims to pair Veteran volunteers from its volunteer team with Veteran patients. When paired with hospice patients that also have military experience, Veteran volunteers have the unique ability to relate and connect with each patient. If you are a Veteran and looking for an opportunity to serve fellow Veterans, please reach out to our volunteer coordinator, Nina Lux, at 402-484-6444 or nlux@horisunhospice.com.

Quilts of Valor

The mission of the Quilts of Valor Foundation is to cover service members and Veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor. HoriSun Hospice is honored to participate in arranging a special ceremony to award a Quilt of Valor to Veterans touched by war.

Flags of Honor

An American flag is available through HoriSun Hospice for each Veteran patient to be laid over their body at the time of death. The flag may be kept by the family as a way to remember their loved one’s service.
